Making it easier - HEXPOL TPE at Plastteknik 2017

Following their recent name change, HEXPOL TPE will be exhibiting for the first time under their new identity at this year’s Plastteknik exhibition (17 & 18 May, Malmö). At the show the company will be presenting some of the latest development in Thermoplastic Elastomer technologies at their stand C04.

Thomas Nilsson, managing director at HEXPOL TPE AB commented, “The name change in Sweden was part of a global branding strategy for the HEXPOL TPE group. With the renaming of all the European sites (formerly ELASTO Sweden, ELASTO UK and Müller Kunststoffe), we now operate under the HEXPOL TPE name globally. We made the change as we want to make things less complicated and easier for customers to know who we are and what we do”.

“Making it easier”, is an important message for us added Caj Karlsson, key account manager HEXPOL TPE AB. “We want to be the easiest company for our customers to do business with; through our local support, technical know-how and with the products we develop. Plastteknik is a key networking point for the Nordic plastics industry, our team will be meeting with new and existing customers and demonstrating how our product innovations are opening up design and processing opportunities”.

Dryflex Green TPEs will be one of the products presented at the show, they are a family of biobased TPE compounds containing raw materials from renewable resources. Dryflex Green TPEs are available in a range of hardnesses from 20 Shore A to 50 Shore D, while containing amounts of renewable content to over 90% (ASTM D 6866). The biobased content derives from raw materials such as polymers, fillers, plasticizers or additives. The range includes compounds using organic fillers from plants, crops or trees; to give an additional organic appearance and haptics. Dryflex Green TPE compounds can be used in many applications that currently use conventional TPE compounds, such as soft-touch grips and handles, sealing and closures. They give manufacturers of household goods, sports equipment, toys, infant care and packaging new opportunities for sustainability.

Mediprene TPEs will also be highlighted, these compounds were developed to address the demands of the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. Mediprene TPE compounds are sterilizable with gamma, EtO and steam and representative grades have been tested for cytotoxicity according to USP /ISO 10993-5 and for biocompatibility according to ISO 10993-10 (Intracutaneous Reactivity), ISO 10993-11 (Acute Systemic Toxicity) and USP Class VI. They are PVC, silicone and latex free, making them allergen free and a viable alternative to PVC based compounds. Typical applications for Mediprene TPEs include tubing and connectors, syringe plunger seals, resealable membranes and face-masks.
