ELASTO and Müller Kunststoffe team up
In December 2011 Hexpol AB announced the latest addition to their TPE offering with the acquisition of Müller Kunststoffe. The Central European manufacturer has two production units in Lichtenfels, Germany which complement Hexpol’s existing ELASTO business with units in UK and Sweden. The group’s production capacity is set to further increase with start-up in China planned for the second half of 2012.
Both ELASTO and Müller Kunststoffe have a strong heritage in their home markets, with a trusted reputation for technical, custom formulated solutions. They were among the first companies to start producing TPE compounds in Europe and have continually invested in people, production and technology; to expand capacity and support their growing global customer base. “With our European and Asian production facilities and sales offices we are ideally placed to give flexible, local support to our customers, responding quickly to their demands. The Chinese operation is located in Foshan in the expansive Guangzhou area, a key location for polymer component manufacturing. As a number of our customers operate across both Europe and Asia, they now have the advantage of working with us on a global scale”, commented Ralph Wolkener, President Europe & Asia for Hexpol Compounding.
Georg Ender, managing director at Müller Kunststoffe added “In ELASTO we recognise a kindred spirit; we are both companies that have grown significantly while keeping the heart of a small, down to earth business whose main goal is solving customer problems. We are both known for honest dealings, reliable deliveries and we continuously strive for intelligent, practical solutions which help our customers be more successful. We are excited about the new opportunities this partnership will mean for our customers”.
“This new line-up brings together the materials expertise and customer service values of two previously separate major compounders. It marks the next step in our evolution as part of the Hexpol family, who are aggressively pursuing the acquisition trail", commented Carsten Rüter, president global purchasing and technology at Hexpol Compounding. "As our teams continue to work with customers to make the most of the significant design and processing opportunities offered by our products, we will continue to expand both geographically and by increasing penetration, with ever widening applications in the household, medical, automotive, construction, industrial and leisure markets. We’ll be capitalising on a multi-cultural diverse organisation to deliver a winning combination that make us first choice partner for TPE and complimentary compounds,” concluded Wolkener.
